I’m very happy to see that two new sites have launched this week that are important to the Design profession.

CRIT
CRIT, the graduate student Design blog, encourages dialogue from the perspective of graduate Design students on academia, professional experience, class projects, and visual culture. Initiated by SVA MFA Design, CRIT invites Design students from all institutions to participate.”

The Design Encyclopedia
TDE is a wiki and “a growing, collaborative resource that describes, tracks and explains culture, commerce, politics, media, sports, brands – everything possible, really – through design.”

For us in the Design community, these channels for historical documentation and self-criticism are always in need. With each with have the opportunity to learn more about or profession and more importantly its relationship to the world. This form of knowledge-sharing leads to more informed designers which can lead to better design.

Friend and client Wheat Wurtzburger’s Evi image is featured with the Fall 2005 issue of Venus Magazine.

Josh, from Schwadesign, pointed out to me this morning that the friendly Sean Carton, who we met randomly on the street and enjoyed a Thai lunch with Friday at the National Design Conference is included in the Oxford English Dictionary for having coined the term ego surfing.

AIGA’s National Design Conference took place this past weekend in Boston, MA. I’m compiling some thoughts of perspectives on the event as other attendees are certainly doing the same today. Blogger Jason Kottke was writing “live” from the event with some fairly comprehensive reviews and analyses.

Help designers affected by Katrina get back on their feet. If you have a desk, chair, room, or project to share visit Displaced Designer.
Site by the Chopping Block.

The unboxing is nearly complete here. The move went very smoothly, thanks to help from family and friends. Thank you, everyone, for your support.
